High School Senior Portraits

Summer is here and our High School Senior season is in full swing. If you have a high school student who will be a senior this fall, now is the time for senior portraits. Students have their senior portraits made over the summer between their junior and senior year. This is done so the students can submit their portrait to the yearbook staff in the early fall when returning to school. Most schools yearbook deadlines are early fall. This is done so the year book can be printed and delivered to the students in the spring prior to school letting out.

We have several senior sessions available from our two outfit Basic Session, to our six outfit Totally Me Session where we also go outdoors on location. Our Totally Me Session really allows students to express who they are. Having several changes of clothes allows the student to bring sports uniforms and props to musical instruments or even their car.

Call the studio for your session this summer!  414.258.2700

Three Sisters

Kate (lower center) is one of my Senior models this year. She brought her two older sisters to her session. We had a ton of fun. I photographed them in several poses but liked this one the best. Sibling portraits are important, especially prior to everyone departing for college. This may be one of the last times they are all together prior to going their separate ways in life.

Baby Benjamin

Baby Benjamin came to visit me on a day last week. He was so cute while he was here. I photographed him in his diaper and his Milwaukee Brewers outfit too. He was a lot of fun. I loved all of his smiles and cooing. His older sister is Mommy's little helper. I can't wait to see Benjamin at his 6 month session.

Senior Portrait Tips

Our High School Senior sessions are just about to start at our studio. Here are some tips to help your session go smoothly. These tips will also make you look awesome in your final portraits. If you have further questions please call the studio.

CLOTHING

  • Try to bring clothes in mostly solid colors, they look best and hold up over time.
  • Darker colors minimize body size and have a slimming effect.
  • Avoid stripes and bold plaids, they do not photography well.
  • Bring a variety of colors and styles. Don’t bring 5 short sleeve shirts in 5 different colors. Bring something formal, something casual, something that is you etc.
  • Bring appropriate foot wear. Bring matching shoes to go with each outfit. Boots, sneakers, sandals, dress shoes etc.
  • Plan each clothing change from head to toe. We will photograph you full length, ¾ length and close up in each outfit. Dress accordingly.
  • Bring your own music! We have an Ipod doc and Ron loves to crank up the camera room stereo while he is working with seniors.

SKIN

o       Guys, make sure you are clean shaven, we don’t re-touch razor stubble.
o       Pre session shave-be careful not to cut or nick yourself. If you do let us know so we can retouch it on your final portraits.
o       Get a manicure and pedicure (guys too). Both of your hands and feet may show in your portraits. You want them to look their best.
o       Don’t worry about a break out on the day of your session. We retouch everything in your final portraits.

     HAIR

o       Don’t change your hairstyle or cut your hair the day before your session. A slight trim and normal hair styling is fine around a week before your session.
o       Bring your hair spray, mousse, hair gel or whatever you use to control those flyaway hairs.

Congratulations to her Mom and Dad and her older sister, Nora. I can't wait to see how much she is going to change when I see her next at her 3 month session. Leah, like her older sister, is enrolled in our Watch Me Grow Baby Portrait plan. I can't wait to photograph Leah and Nora together too!

Dance Team Group Portrait

A few weeks ago I had the privilege to photograph the Milwaukee Lutheran High School Dance Team.We had 18 girls here in the studio. I have never seen so much make up and hair product everywhere. I photographed each of the girls separately in different poses and then combined them into the group portrait you see here. It was a lot of fun to meet and photograph everyone. I think the end result turned out quite well. Thank you everybody!

5 Reasons Why

5 Reasons why you should have your children photographed at Wimmer Photography.

1. Ron loves kids. He is a father of two. He loves kids of all ages whether it’s a newborn baby, a shy two year old or a 4 year old who won’t sit still. Ron finds a way to connect with them and comes away with great images.

 2. No waiting! That’s right we don’t have a lobby full of people waiting to get into the camera room. We allow a complete hour when we schedule your children’s session. We schedule only one client per hour. Longer if you have a newborn that might need to be fed and diapered. You are never rushed.

3. Ron has years of training. Ron attends several professional seminars a year to keep his knowledge and skills current. Ron is a long time member of the Professional Photographer’s Association and a member of United Professional Portrait Photographer’s Association. Along with his experience handling different personalities from behind the camera, Ron simply knows what will work and what doesn’t.

4. When we book your session we always ask, “When is your child at his or her best during the day.” That is the time of day when Ron wants to photograph your child. We never want a child to miss a feeding or a nap.

5. Your portraits will not look like everyone else’s. Ron wants to create a custom piece of art for you to hang on your wall at home. Ron strives to make everyone’s portraits different and unique.

If you are truly looking for something different and unique please give us a call at 414.258.2700

Children's Portraits

Mr. Liam came and saw me yesterday. He was very occupied with Dad"s IPad. It was really funny to see him so tuned into the Ipad.
I photographed a lot of images with him holding the Ipad. Then we took it away and ...well...you can see what happened. I did get some great expressions from him prior to the Ipad images.

Family Portraits

There is no better way to celebrate family than with a family portrait.

When was the last time you had your family photographed? Were you wearing horned rimmed glasses and your husband had Brill Cream in his hair? Is that horrible church directory photo that your children dislike so much, still hanging on your wall? Maybe it's the portrait that so old all of your children are not in it! (I hope not yikes!)

If you are in one of the categories I mentioned above please give us a call at (414) 258-2700.

Baby Photography

Baby Olivia came to visit me. She was such a sweetheart. I photographed her in two outfits and then we did some in a diaper on her tummy. It was struggle for her to keep her head up but she did and I got a few really nice images. I can't wait to see her here again. I bet she will be rolling over and ready to crawl by then!

New Born Baby Photography

Baby Henry

Baby Henry came to visit me today. He was very sleepy so we didn't get any images of him awake but I got some really nice images of him sleeping. He was a hungry little guy when he first got here. So mommy fed him and he went right to sleep! Henry is going to be part of our Watch Me Grow program. Mom and Dad will bring him in every 3 months for the first year. At the end of the program Mom & Dad will get an image panel with images from every session. It's a great keepsake. It's really amazing how much babies grow their first year.

Children's Photography

Khendel and Ella were a blast! I did portraits of the each girl by herself and a couple of them together. They were so much fun and I was exhausted by the time we were done. I haven't laughed that hard in quite awhile.

From their session was able to put together an image panel pictured above. The image panel is a 10x20 inch panel with three of your favorite images. It is a wonderful keepsake for mom & dad or grandparents. If you are interested in having your children photographed please give the studio a call (414)258-2700.

2.28.2011

Baby Sophia

Baby Sophia was so serious while she was in front of my camera. We played and played but I got no smiles till the very end of our session. Then I caught this cute, look over the shoulder image. Sophia is a real sweetheart. I hope she comes back to my studio and brings her older sisters with her!

365 Project 1.10.11

1.10.11
Evergreen

I have two images today. We had our website go down yesterday for several hours so I was unable to post anything.
We had snow yesterday. So I went looking for an image. I found this snow covered evergreen and started shooting. I ended up walking in about 4-5 inches of snow in my dress shoes and soaked pants up to my knees.. Living in Wisconsin you think I'd have a pair of boots to slip on. I shot several images and liked this one the best.

1.11.11
Snow & Brambles

Lots of lake effect snow today. I drove through the park looking for images. I love when the snow clings to all the trees. I found this spot with all the brambles covered with snow. I really like how busy crazy this image is with the snow. I wanted to show how tangled up the brush has grown. You don't see this in the summer because everything is covered with leaves.

365 Project 1.9.11

1.9.11
Tree Line & Clouds

I had to really search for this image today. I had gone to three other locations and came away with nothing. I was beginning to worry that I might not find anything. I was to this location several days ago but did not see this small ridge with these trees. I instantly thought  that this would work in black & white. I shot several different versions of this image. I isolated several trees and also shot some vertical images. In the end I kept coming back to this panoramic version. I think this image works because of the clouds. If the sky was clear I don' think it would have worked at all.

365 Project 1.8.11

1.8.11
Oak Tree Trunks

It was very sun this afternoon when I went looking for an image. I drove again along the Menominee River again but 2-3 miles north. I thought I would find a nice scenic image of the frozen river. I got out of my truck and walked towards the river. Not thirty feet from the truck was this awesome oak tree with multiple trunks. I shot a few images then walked down the river bank about 50 yards looking for more images. I wanted to wait a bit till the sun was a  lower creating more texture on the bark. I walked back and shot several more images. I also adjusted my color balance in the camera as a shot. After I got the images in photo shop I liked the cooler looking image that I posted here.

1.07.2011

365 Project 1.7.11

1.7.11
Geese on the Menominee River

I drove along the river this morning looking for an image and didn't find anything. Later this afternoon I went back out looking for an image and drove back down to the river. I actually saw a huge downed tree on the other side of the river. So I drove across the river and found a spot to park and grabbed my gear. As I approached the river near the downed tree I came upon the opening in the ice and all the geese. There was a light snow falling which gives the water a speckled look. This image really works well as a panoramic. I was very happy to find my image for the day and get out of the extreme cold. It was only 6 above zero.

1.06.2011

365 Project 1.6.11

1.6.11
Snowy Roof

I had been noticing the patterns on several roof tops since the light snow we had late yesterday. It was just a dusting of snow which created some great textures on the roof tops. Somehow I knew I had an image, I just had to wait till the light was right. I came back later when the sun and just crested over the roof top creating some really strong side lighting and a great texture on the roof. I really like the simplicity of this image.

365 Project 1.5.11

1.5.11
Snow Covered Thistle

I stopped by a park to photograph an interesting birch tree. The lighting on the birch was pretty flat and quite boring. So I continued to wander a bit and found these thistles underneath the edge of some small pines. I shot several variations of these thistles with different points of focus. I liked this one the best.

Wauwatosa Train Trestle 1.4.11

1.4.11
Wauwatosa Train Trestle

While I was running an errand I was also looking for an image. I have seen this trestle for years and always wanted to photograph it but never had the time. So I parked my truck and walked about a city block to get the view I was looking for. It was very cold and I was not properly dressed. I shot about two dozen images and could not take the cold any longer.
I was looking for a really industrial type of an image. I did some cross processing and added some textures in photo shop but did not like what I was getting. Then I took the image in another direction and this is what really jumped out at me.

My 365 Project

I have decided to challenge myself creatively over the next year. I will take one photograph a day, process it in photo shop and post it to my blog. One image that I feel can hang as fine art piece.  I feel this will be a way for me to grow my vision over this next year. This will be a huge challenge photographically and mentally. So posted below are the first few days.
1.1.11
Winter Walnut Tree
The first day of the year was cloudy. The clouds had a ripple effect going but I needed something else to go with it. So I found my neighbors black walnut tree. I wanted to portray the coldness of the day so I added a blue tone to the entire image. I think the blue tone works very well.

1.2.11
Window Frost
I noticed the frost on my hallway window when I headed downstairs in the morning. So I grabbed my camera and started shooting. I liked this image the best. Just a hit of the morning sun shining through.

1.3.11
Morning Sunrise
I photographed this right outside in my front yard. I must have looked funny in my jammy pants, slippers and my winter coat. The colors were amazing and only lasted about a minute.I was glad to have my camera close at hand.
